Up for your consideration is an impressive pair of vintage Hollywood Regency style lamps featuring a beautifully detailed and amazing tower of fruits in a basket with a classic base. I was told by a fellow Ebayer that the fittings on the lamps attribute them to the Marbro Lamp company- google them to learn more, an interesting company that produced wonderful lamps with importing lamp bodies from small companies around the world.
Fantastically tall- first photo shows them in relation to a dining room chair. Beautiful detailing throughout and classic in all white/ soft white- in what I believe is porcelain. From an Edina, MN estate, I was told from the original owner that they are Italian, but it is possible that if the lamps are Marbro, the porcelain could be Japanese or Chinese as they were known to import porcelain from those countries. She said had them for 45 to 50 years and got them from someone else who owned them before that.
As found, they have a mogul base for the light bulbs- I have added screw in/removable mogul adapters to allow the option of regular/standard base bulbs if desired. Has the original golden/ brown cord/ wiring.
Complete with the original removeable cone glass shades they are ready for fabric shades to top them off. Estimated to be from the 1950's 60's. A hard to find classic in an even harder to find pair. Lamp 1: 46 5/8 tall from floor to top of glass shade.Lamp 2: 47 1/8 tall from floor to top of glass shade. Lamp height without the glass shades: approx 41.75. Widest part of the fruit basket: 11.5 across. Condition: Overall excellent vintage condition. A few chips/ cracks- most notable shown in the photos. I have not cleaned them, dust is present. One of the lamps lights up, the other does not. As the wiring is original to the midcentury, re-wiring is recommended. The gold finishes show some wear/ discoloration consistent with age- one so more than the other. Two of the screws to hold in the glass shade are missing. As noted in the measurements, they are slightly different heights by approx 1/2 - perhaps a testament to their handmade nature.
They are heavy and weigh approximately 23 pounds each. Thank you for your appreciation of vintage. This item is in the category "Collectibles\Lamps, Lighting\Lamps".scula" and is located in this country: US. This item can be shipped to United States.
